Spreading the TT Love

I seem to be working as a one woman P.R. campaign for Take That in Canada.
I've got Ros hooked on Patience, and had her ask me to make her a mix CD for daycare with TT songs so she can spread the word in the under 6 set.
I've got one of my best mates not only listening to the band, and coming over to watch the concert DVDs, but now reading the RPS. (She read my three stories and asked for recs!)
And now I seem to have hooked the other friend who came to see X-Men with us. After I bitched about them not including Love Love in the end credits, she asked me to send her a link to the video. So I did. I also sent her links to the video of Kidz, and their performance at the Brits. She passed the Kidz link along to her steampunk/music crazy sixteen-year-old son.
And today she sent me this in an email:

Is it bad that I'm feeling inordinately pleased with myself?
And hoping that I can one day be considered ground zero for Take That's takeover of North America. Or at least Toronto. (I have especially big hopes that the sixteen-year-old will start spreading the word at his school.)

Date: 2011-06-25 07:04 pm (UTC)And also, I'm excited that you're working on the Howard/Jason story! Very excited! (If you ever need a beta, I'm always up for that. And being able to get an early look at the story would have nothing to do with me volunteering. *g*)
Back soon!

Date: 2011-06-26 06:51 pm (UTC)Just wanted to let you know I might get back to your beta-offer, very kind! With English not being my native language it's not always easy - you will have noticed while reading OLWHM. Re-reading it now for research I found some new cringeworthy oddity every time I opened the word document. ;D But since OLWHM was published completely un-betaed I think I did quite alright anyway (I hope).
However, I'm a pretty chaotic writer and this new part will be pretty chaotic anyway, so please let me know if you mind bit and bobs (coz I might need help throughout the process) or if you'd rather have a first read when it's done (I know some readers don't like excerpts). I have a wonderful LJ-friend who does help me with pre-reading the single bits, but I really really don't mind more quality management! :D
Now, I was being a bit Jason again, wasn't I? Sorry, but I'm just so excited about the story. Hope you had agreat vacation and a safe journey and no CDs or other halfs were tossed around Canadian highways! *g*

Date: 2011-06-28 12:58 am (UTC)I would love to beta for you. I'm amazed that OLWHM is un-beta'd since it's a really accomplished story. (Did I mention I'm re-re-reading it? And loving it more and picking up more each time.) But no matter how much I write, I always feel an extra pair of eyes on a story can help.
I can beta however you like. Bits and bobs is entirely fine. In fact, given my schedule, that'll probably ensure I get back to you faster. Feel free to email me at paulinezed at gmail dot com anytime.
Being a bit Jason is never a bad thing. Especially as it means you're excited about the story.
The vacation is nice and relaxing so far. Though the Sweetie has not yet fallen for the magic that is Mark Owen. And he, unusually, decided to do most of the driving today (I'm the main driver in the family) and since we operate on a Driver Picks the Music rule, there was darn little TT today. But no CD or spouses were tossed onto the Canadian highway, so it's all good. *g*

Date: 2011-06-28 05:03 am (UTC)And I'd love to make use of your offer! I've got a couple of days off from tomorrow on, and hope to get a little bit more writing done - so you may find something in your inbox quite soon.
OLWHM did more or less write itself, maybe that's why I dared posting it without a proper beta. It was somehow bigger than me. Do you have that sometimes when you re-read your stuff and you wonder if it was really you writing this? Well, OLWHM is like that. And yes, I'm very excited about Jason's and Howard's story (working title: Why It Never Happened *facepalm* I'm definitely going to change that!). It's pretty sad at the moment, though, so yesterday I wrote a bit of their first meeting, just for my own pleasure. *g* I'm a bit in love with it, I'm afraid I got a little bit carried away, hope it won't turn out to be too corny.
I love that you're re-re-reading it! Makes me want to bounce around and do a silly little happy dance! *bounces around and does silly little happy dance*
Glad to hear you're enjoying your vacation and no one and nothing was tossed onto Canadian highways! And clever plan of your clever Sweetie to avoid TT by driving - that man really is a challenge! *g*

Date: 2011-06-28 01:16 pm (UTC)It is always wonderful when a story seems to take on a life of its own in the writing. My WW I story was like that. I managed to bang out all 10,000 words in a week, which is unprecedented for me.
I'm really looking forward to Why It Never Happened, or whatever you end up calling it. *g* (Personally, I hate coming up with titles. Either they come immediately or I agonize over them for ages.) I expect it to break my heart, in a good way, but I am very excited that you're writing their first meeting. On this re-read I was thinking how much I'd like to see a few of the first time meetings, Howard and Jay, but also Mark and Robbie.
I don't know that the Sweetie had a conscious plan to avoid TT by driving, but it definitely had that side effect. :-/

Date: 2011-06-28 10:39 pm (UTC)10,000 words in one week - blimey! Pure determination - no wonder I loved your story so much! :)
I'm horrible with titles, too. They usually come quite late in the process, so I'm pretty sure Why It Never Happened is not going to get very old. *g*
And a series of first meetings is definitely on my agenda!
Awww, but you still have the journey back to make up for that!

Date: 2011-06-28 11:31 pm (UTC)It's comforting to hear I'm not the only one who has trouble with titles. And hoorah for a series of first meetings! That will be awesome!
I'm definitely going to push to drive on the way back. Purely to be nice of course. (My daughter voted for the Beautiful World album this afternoon--well really, she just yelled "Play Patience!"--so we all had a little TT fix.)

Date: 2011-06-29 09:35 am (UTC)It's lovely to see how much you daughter loves Patience! (Even though I think in a couple of years you will have to talk to her about the lyrics and men who say things like that. ;D)

No doubt, but that's true about 90% of the pop and rock songs out there. (When I was a kid, I used to get miffed about the lyric "You oughta think right, you oughta do right by me" in The Beatles' Ticket to Ride. Still do, actually. *g*) And as these things go, TT's lyrics are far from the worst.

Point taken! You can't save her from all silly/stupid/strange/seriously wrong lyrics - and, yes, TT are not on one of the top spots. *g*
