I can belatedly report that we had a lovely time camping up in Killbear this past weekend. Ros and her friends had a lovely time, with only a few five-year-old-type tiffs, the adults also had fun, and there were no bears or rattlesnakes spotted. Though we talked to a few people in different areas of the park who were getting regular bear visits.

We did have a wicked rainstorm on Saturday night which kept me awake, because it was freaking loud, and kept the Sweetie awake, because he was stressed that our tarp wasn't going to hold and our tent would wash away, and kept Ros up...not at all. Oh to be five.

Tonight, I also belatedly followed your advice, my dear flist, and went to see Cowboys & Aliens with a pal. Oh, how could I doubt you all?! It's not art, but it is immensely entertaining. Daniel Craig in chaps goes a very long way. Plus, as a bonus, Clancy Brown was in it! I lurv Clancy Brown! I'm still no fan of Harrison Ford, though. He did better than he's done in years, but it still ain't good. Fortunately, he didn't have much to do but growl and look grizzled.

I'm glad to hear you had a nice time and yes, the rainstorm and the five year old is a typical story. I was saying to a mate recently, oh to be a kid again when you practically believed that your suitcase packed itself when you went on holiday.

The chaps are a thing of beauty and a joy for ever. Well, rather what's in the chaps.

If only my suitcase would pack itself when we went on holiday. That would be awesome. *g*

Well, rather what's in the chaps.

In the chaps. Out of the chaps. He's all good. ;-)

Now I don't really start enjoying a holiday until I'm at the point where there's no turning back and anything that hasn't got done won't get done.

Yes, yes it is and we have the film stock to prove it. :D

Daniel Craig has an unfairly pretty ass. I am envious of his behind. *grump*

Yep, that is one pretty behind. He's pretty much my kind of eye candy. *g*

I wish I had an ass half as pretty as his. *jellus*

It's on the list, though I'm rapidly running out of time to see it. (The film fest starts up in mere weeks! Yikes!)

I'm very pleased that you had such a good relaxing time - and Ros being completely unfazed about being in the tent reminds me of me and my brother in a howling gale in the Hebrides. We were begging mum and dad to let us stay in the tent and watch the tent pole buckle...

Oh to be five again indeed.*g*

And what a relief it is to come across a non Harrison Ford fan. I always feel like I'm blaspheming not to think much of him as an actor. I just don't, though. Never have. I find him very, very one-note.

I'll definitely go to Cowboys and Aliens for Daniel Craig in chaps, mind.

Not only is Harrison a one-note actor (okay, mebbe two) but he lost his attractiveness for me as he aged, which I find kind of unusual in actors that I'm attracted to when they're younger.

Han Solo honey, I am disappoint.

Clearly we share a mind, since I agree with everything you've said.

Of course you wanted to see the tent pole buckle. Who wouldn't? *g*

Once upon a time, I did like Harrison Ford, but that was over twenty years ago. He's been phoning in performances for years, and seems like an unpleasant sort of bloke in real life. The last movie I saw him in before this was Patriot Games, and I was very much rooting for Sean Bean's IRA terrorist to take Ford's head off.

Daniel Craig in chaps is a very, very good thing. *g*

(cool story on) When I was 10-ish and we were living about 575 miles south of my hometown, my parents decided we would camp overnight on the way up to visit my grandparents, on the highest mountain in Arkansas. In a family-sized tent, the kind big enough that you can stand in them (this was 40 years ago.) Of course there was a horrendous thunderstorm in the middle of the night, and of course it rained hard enough that the water ran under the tent floor and attempted to lift the stakes and take us down the side of the mountain. My mother claims she spent the night rearranging sleeping children (there were three of us, 10, 7, and 2) trying to keep the tent in place. All three of us slept through it, including being shifted about like sandbags. (/cool story, bro)

I want to go see Cowboys and Aliens, but our schedule is packed right now and I fear it will disappear from the theaters before I get a chance.

Having occasionally had to shuffle one sleeping, small-ish 5-year-old, I feel for your mom. *g*

I can sympathize with the packed schedule (I don't know if I'm going to see the final Harry Potter in a theatre), but if you do see Cowboys & Aliens, I think you'll enjoy it.

Daniel Craig in chaps goes a very long way.

I'm glad you didn't see any bears!

He is astoundingly perfect in the cowboy getup. Of course, he's just lovely to look at in general. *g*

No one is happier that we didn't see bears than Le Ros. She woke up in the middle of the night the day before we left saying "I don't want to see bears!" :-/
