A Ros and Take That Moment
Apr. 14th, 2012 10:28 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The other day I'm making dinner with Take That's Progress tour on in the background when Ros and the Sweetie come home from the park. I flip the concert back to Shine so Ros can watch it while I'm finishing dinner. (They do this version as an Alice in Wonderland pastiche, complete with the White Rabbit, and Ros loves it.)
Here's Howard, Mark, Jason and the rabbit.

A couple of minutes later, a very excited Ros comes running into the kitchen.
Ros: Mommy, mommy, I know why he sings "But you're stuck in a hole!"
Me: Why?
Ros: It's because the song is about a rabbit!
I don't know what I love more, the fact that the line was clearly bugging her, or the fact that she's latched onto the explanation that it's about a rabbit. And she's sticking to her guns on the point. Any time she hears it now, she insists "This is about a rabbit!"
Of course, she's partly right, since the song is about Robbie, and they no doubt did the whole Alice in Wonderland thing because Robbie did a video a few years ago dressed as the White Rabbit:

And Robbie appears at the end of Shine via video screen as the Rabbit.

Since I had to grab my own screen caps of Shine, have a few more, just for fun.
Mark in what is possibly the most ridiculous costume of his career. (Or perhaps not. There's certainly no shortage of ridiculous costumes in Take That's history.)

Gleeful!Mark posing for the crowd.

Howard and Jason showing off their moves, as always. Not bad for a pair of fortysomethings.

In other news, I have finished the final assignment in the bloody online course I've been taking. It's not the most brilliant job I've ever done, but as long as I pull off a reasonably respectable grade, I'll be happy. Now I've just got to survive the launch of a massive new project I've been part of at work, and then I can get my head back around the Pros Big Bang and any other fannish project that strikes my fancy. Yay!

Congrats on finishing the final assignment.

Date: 2012-04-15 02:54 am (UTC)I'm more relieved than anything that I've got that assignment done. It's certainly no masterpiece, but I reckon I'm a good enough writer that even a dodgy job is enough to get me a reasonable grade. (I clearly have no shame left.) And it's cured me of taking any big professional development courses for another year or two.

I'm already looking forward to the end of this degree and it's still a year away so I get it. :D

Date: 2012-04-16 01:08 am (UTC)Whenever I started whining about this course (which was frequently) I would think about your degree and how very much worse I could have it. You have my sympathies and my good thoughts that you make it through the thing with you sense of humour intact.

Date: 2012-04-15 04:51 am (UTC)So, yes, perhaps it is about a rabbit after all! Smart girl you'v got there. ;)

Congrats on finishing the assignment. Pros BB sounds good!

Date: 2012-04-15 12:45 pm (UTC)I couldn't resist doing more screencaps than necessary. The boys are too much fun.
I'm soooo happy to be done that assignment. Pros BB up next! (I was stuck in a meeting on Friday afternoon that had nothing to do with me for nearly half an hour and got nearly a page written. )

Date: 2012-04-15 12:58 pm (UTC)I've sent mine to my beta today... managed to get kickstarted and once I start writing I can't stop so there were 28,696 words in 14 days. That might change once my beta gets her hands on it. I felt perfectly confident about the story while I was writing but now I wonder if it's any good at all - so the only thing to do is let someone else decide!
On the minus side, there's almost no hurt/comfort and it's a historical AU so there might be expert readers to pick holes in it. On the plus side, it's out of my head and winging its way to Australia.*g*

Date: 2012-04-15 01:14 pm (UTC)It's the first draft that always kills me. Once I've got that done, I actually enjoy the editing part. I'm really keen on getting cracking on mine, so I have hopes that I'll be able to write mine sort of quickly. Or at least as quickly as I have time for.

Date: 2012-04-15 02:06 pm (UTC)The first draft gets written in my head. Then the second reaches the keyboard/screen. I hate editing - I get bored and want to go on to the next story. *g*
Hope you can get going on yours straight away!!

Date: 2012-04-15 11:25 am (UTC)And thank you for including that lovely pic of Howard and Jason. In very... ummm, inviting postions *g*
Yay for assignments being done! \o/

Date: 2012-04-15 12:51 pm (UTC)I just had to include Howard and Jason. And yeah, those are some very inviting position. *g*
Double yay for assignments being done. And now, fanfic! And also guilt-free watching of Game of Thrones tonight.

Date: 2012-04-15 01:14 pm (UTC)Erm...?!?!
I adore how you turn Ros into a little fangirl! Good job! (And it's so easy, isn't it? *g*)
Also, I thought you might like this...LOL
It's on tumblr right here: http://thisisbloodyridiculosity.tumblr.com/post/21050754529
Annnnnnnd this! Look! It's baby Howard and baby Markie looking all serious!

Date: 2012-04-16 01:13 am (UTC)The second quote is adorable.
But what the heck is the context for the first quote? Stain? Whu?! Mind you, I approve of celebrating by doing rudeness to Mark's nether regions. (They have never EVER been your average straight boys. Bless 'em.)

Date: 2012-04-15 09:53 pm (UTC)Or the aforementioned mesh tops with the crazy skirt thing:
Mind you, mesh tops always look better when Howard is giving you a piggyback ride. ;-)
That Sean Bean thing is BRILLIANT! Must reblog.
And baby Howard and baby Mark are utterly adorable together. Awwwwwwwwww.

Date: 2012-04-16 05:37 am (UTC)Or when you're allowed to wear the same jacket as Gary, no matter how ridiculous a jacket it is...
...or when you're allowed to wear the same jacket as Jason (even if it clearly is a couple of sizes too large for your tiny little body)
But nothing is quite as fantastic as wearing a ludicrous outfit and devil's horns. Now scream!

Date: 2012-04-16 10:06 am (UTC)Howard in the overalls in the next pic is Seriously Wrong.
But the devil costume seriously trumps everything. Oh, Markie.
no subject
Date: 2012-04-16 10:54 am (UTC)But the overalls are definitely all kinds of Seriously Wrong. No excuses here.
The picture wins the longer you stare at it - Gary is practising his serious face (and try to do that when your hair looks as ridiculous as his!), Markie has hurt himself (mind the band aid around his finger!) again (there sure is fic in there?), Jason thinks he's got a gun, and Robbie still looks like the typical English teenage boy - the kind you're dreading to meet when you go to see the footie. No sign of Mr Robbie Fucking Biggest Popstar Williams yet. Also: how large are Jason's ears?? Blimey! (Sh**! Now I have to go and look at a hundred or more pictures of him to find out if his ears are really that big! Oh, the hardship!!)
no subject
Date: 2012-04-16 12:02 pm (UTC)And it's good of you to take on the task of finding out if Jason's ears really are that big. Not many would have the strength to look at a hundred pictures of Mr Orange. Stay strong! ;-)

Date: 2012-04-15 04:18 pm (UTC)Oh, the happy memories :D I do remember in a few of the early concerts wondering if Rob actually *was* the rabbit, but discounting that theory after seeing him do a forward roll!! Not sure Rob would be bothered with that every night...
*hugs* for your assignment. Sounds very hard work, go you! Very much looking forward to reading the results of those 'fannish projects.' :D

Date: 2012-04-15 09:56 pm (UTC)The assignment wasn't that hard, but it just took time that I didn't really have. The deal was work paid for the course and I was supposed to be doing the course work on company time, but since I was up to my eyeballs in a big project that hasn't worked out the last three weeks. But the last assignment is done and dusted, and the project will be this Wednesday, so then there will be much more time for fun stuff. Yay!

Date: 2012-04-15 10:26 pm (UTC)The showing off pic reminds me of this added bonus as a result of that pose (last show of the tour so maybe the stitching had worn out from all that stretching ;)) Howard around 4:20:
Well, it may not be the silliest outfit, but I much prefer him wearing mesh/crop tops, cycling shorts or bondage gear over that helmet any day. :p
Good luck with the launch of the work project, hopefully it will go smoothly so you'll have time for the more fun things!

Date: 2012-04-16 01:03 am (UTC)That video! How did I not know Howard split his pants in Munich?! Thank you for enlightening me!
Yeah, the helmet...It's sort of endearing, but mostly just extremely dorky. Mind you, I don't know that I'd want to see any of them in mesh tops these days. Except Jason. Jay can wear a mesh top any time he wants. *g*
Thanks for the good wishes on the work project. Fingers crossed it'll all go smoothly come Tuesday. And even if it doesn't, at least it'll be over. :-/

Date: 2012-04-16 02:31 am (UTC)Just Jay? I wouldn't mind if they'd all have a go at the mesh, only in order to determine if it could still work! ;)
Fingers crossed and it's always nice when the end is in sight!

Date: 2012-04-16 03:49 am (UTC)And yeah, upon further reflection, I wouldn't mind seeing them all in mesh. ::stares dreamily into the distance with a smile on my face::

Date: 2012-04-17 02:27 am (UTC)Thanks for the congrats. I'm mostly just relieved I got the damn thing in. And am hoping I got a decent grade. Not brilliant, just decent. (Mostly, I'm just glad I can get back to some fanfic!)
Good luck with that ear checking. I hope that works out for you. *g*
