Somehow, in the last 24 hours, I've booked us a trip to China.

We're using a tour company two families we know have travelled with, and they already had a March break tour set up, which is when we were planning on going, so it was remarkably easy. But I'm still sort of stunned that this has taken substantially less time than booking our Disney trip this year did.

I'm also amused that Ros is far more excited about this trip than she was about the Disney trip. I really hope she does enjoy it in the end. (Positive side: there will be pictures with pandas! Baby pandas! Negative side: we have no idea if we'll be able to meet with her foster family, which she's really, really counting on in spite of the fact that we've been preparing her for the possibility of it not happening.)

Also, I'm now keeping my fingers very crossed that Mark Owen doesn't announce a tour for the two weeks in March that we'll be in China, because that is literally the only thing that will keep me from seeing him live.

It will be fabulous! And I do hope Mr Owen cooperates. There will be much gnashing of teeth otherwise.

It's going to be very cool. And this is my motivation to finally learn how to properly use my digital SLR camera. Fingers crossed on the Mark front. If he does tour on dates I can go, I'm probably going to end up in Manchester this spring!

If that happens, I hope I'm here and not in Portugal!!! I could even show you the houses we discussed when you wrote the Christmas fic.

I definitely hope you'll be there if I make it across the pond. Would love to take in Manchester with you, including those locations. (I'm working on a sequel to that story, so I might prod you about Manchester geography again soon.)

At this moment, Mark Owen is frantically rearranging his schedule just for you *g*

Well that sounds like an amazing trip - I've never been to Asia at all, and would love to go to China, my friend has been and I know it's incredible.

Oh, if only. *g* (You have no idea how close I am to contacting Jamie Norton on twitter.)

I've been to Hong Kong a couple of times and love it, but we've only been to China once before, when we adopted Ros. This trip will be a very different thing, though we'll be going to some of the same places. But not with a baby who barely knows us this time. It's definitely going to be incredible.

Should definitely be exciting.

Give Mr Owen a warning that March tour dates are Not On if you happen to see him wandering around, would you? *g*

I can't quite believe it's all come together, but it is going to be fabulous. And there will definitely be pics of baby pandas going up.

Blearily drinking coffee, reading the comments thinking "now there are good mates, hoping that Mark Owen can accommodate you..." :D

The trip sounds fantastic and exciting for everyone.

Now if only Mark Owen manages to read those "don't tour in March" vibes from the universe. *g*

The trip will be pretty extraordinary. Though I think the "OMG, we're actually doing this" hyperventilating is about to set in.

How exciting! I'm sure it will be a fabulous trip. And Mark better *not* tour in March! I have also already a holiday booked in March. It's only for one week but I'm a little worried anyway...

I'm glad I'm not the only one rooting for non-March tour dates for Mark. He's the one member of TT I really want to see solo. (No disrespect to the other lads intended, but I love Mark's solo albums best.)

"He's the one member of TT I really want to see solo. (No disrespect to the other lads intended, but I love Mark's solo albums best.)" It's the same for me and he is probably the only member of TT I would travel to see solo. I've never been to a Mark solo gig but I really hope that I will some day.

Likewise. I've been hoping for a chance to see Mark solo pretty much since I tracked down his solo albums, and will travel wherever I have to to see him. If Robbie made it back to North America again, I'd go, but I don't feel the need to travel to see him. And as much as I respect Gary, I have absolutely no desire to see him without the others.

Of course, then there's the fact that I've never seen TT live either. ([livejournal.com profile] halotolerant pulled me into the band after the Progress tickets had already mostly sold out and after I'd already booked all my 2011 vacation.) I'm already planning on seeing as many TT gigs as I can manage in 2014.

Gary solo is not for me either. If Robbie came to my hometown, or close, I would probably go.

I have only seen TT live once; last year in Copenhagen. I had tickets for both gigs there, but the second night got cancelled because Robbie ate that bad lobster. The thing is that I'm more a Mark fan than a TT fan so seeing Mark live is my main priority, but I will of course try and catch TT live at least once in 2014 ;)

I've seen Robbie solo twice, in '98 (at Glastonbury) and '99 (when he did play my hometown), and in fact it was following him that finally made me give TT a listen. But I don't feel a burning need to see him solo again.

The Saturday Copenhagen show was the only one I possibly could have made, and I seriously looked into it, but in the end it's a good thing I didn't get the ticket. I'm glad you at least got to see the first show. (When we saw Rob in Toronto in '99 the show was 3 hours late because he'd eaten something dodgy. The lad has a definitely problem with food poisoning.)

I've never seen Robbie solo, except for his solo part on the Progress tour last year.

Lucky that you didn't get tickets for that Saturday gig in Copenhagen. What a disappointment that would have been! We met fans that had travelled from UK and other places for just that show. I felt so so sorry for them. I was very grateful that I had tickets for both shows, so that I at least got to see them once. Robbie has to be more careful with what he is eating ;)

I read about people travelling for that gig. I felt very sorry for them. Robbie definitely needs to be more careful with what he eats.
