Somehow, in the last 24 hours, I've booked us a trip to China.
We're using a tour company two families we know have travelled with, and they already had a March break tour set up, which is when we were planning on going, so it was remarkably easy. But I'm still sort of stunned that this has taken substantially less time than booking our Disney trip this year did.
I'm also amused that Ros is far more excited about this trip than she was about the Disney trip. I really hope she does enjoy it in the end. (Positive side: there will be pictures with pandas! Baby pandas! Negative side: we have no idea if we'll be able to meet with her foster family, which she's really, really counting on in spite of the fact that we've been preparing her for the possibility of it not happening.)
Also, I'm now keeping my fingers very crossed that Mark Owen doesn't announce a tour for the two weeks in March that we'll be in China, because that is literally the only thing that will keep me from seeing him live.

Date: 2012-11-30 11:24 am (UTC)Well that sounds like an amazing trip - I've never been to Asia at all, and would love to go to China, my friend has been and I know it's incredible.

I've been to Hong Kong a couple of times and love it, but we've only been to China once before, when we adopted Ros. This trip will be a very different thing, though we'll be going to some of the same places. But not with a baby who barely knows us this time. It's definitely going to be incredible.

The trip sounds fantastic and exciting for everyone.

Date: 2012-11-30 08:22 pm (UTC)The trip will be pretty extraordinary. Though I think the "OMG, we're actually doing this" hyperventilating is about to set in.

Date: 2012-11-30 11:54 pm (UTC)Of course, then there's the fact that I've never seen TT live either. (

Date: 2012-12-01 12:18 am (UTC)I have only seen TT live once; last year in Copenhagen. I had tickets for both gigs there, but the second night got cancelled because Robbie ate that bad lobster. The thing is that I'm more a Mark fan than a TT fan so seeing Mark live is my main priority, but I will of course try and catch TT live at least once in 2014 ;)

Date: 2012-12-01 12:23 am (UTC)The Saturday Copenhagen show was the only one I possibly could have made, and I seriously looked into it, but in the end it's a good thing I didn't get the ticket. I'm glad you at least got to see the first show. (When we saw Rob in Toronto in '99 the show was 3 hours late because he'd eaten something dodgy. The lad has a definitely problem with food poisoning.)

Date: 2012-12-01 12:36 am (UTC)Lucky that you didn't get tickets for that Saturday gig in Copenhagen. What a disappointment that would have been! We met fans that had travelled from UK and other places for just that show. I felt so so sorry for them. I was very grateful that I had tickets for both shows, so that I at least got to see them once. Robbie has to be more careful with what he is eating ;)
