In spite of being generally swamped at both work and home, I've somehow finished the first story for my hc_bingo card.

I used to use warnings to find all the angst and deathfic to read first.
I did that too! I was particularly grateful for the Hatstand storylists, which enabled me to home in on a variety of story types I liked. Basically, if comms routinely want warnings for it, it's probably one of my favourite genres.

Oh wow, you haven't read Absolution? It is absolutely on my top ten of Pros fic that I have ever ever read. It nails the eighties and nineties in the UK and brought it all back to me quite overpoweringly. And if you like angst, well, my gods, this is the story for you. I hadn't realised you hadn't read it. Pretend I never said anything about the plot and yes, go and read it!

It's funny when we realise 'things' of ours that we didn't know about before, after writing them repeatedly. I wouldn't have thought I had written enough to find any, but, oh dear, there they are!

Yay for another person using the warnings as recs! (I frequently get odd looks from my friends when I tell them I do that. But they mostly avoid deathfic like the plague, so I suppose it's understandable.)

Okay, Absolution is going to be the next thing I read. I love all of Angelfish's other stories past reason. I don't know how I didn't jump into that as soon as I got it, except that like I said, I was chasing a toddler around at the time, and since I've moved almost all of my fic reading to my ereader.

It's definitely interesting when you start noticing patterns in your own writing. I was definitely noticing trends when I was sticking all my fic up on AO3 a few years back. Along with an alarming lack of sex in my early slash stories. Back when I thought I was just writing slash as a favour to an editor friend. ;-)
