How obsessed am I? Lots.
May. 1st, 2003 10:16 amSo, last night I'm sitting in a screening of Live Forever, a pretty good Beeb documentary about the Britpop phenomenon of the mid-90s. There's absolutely fascinating interviews with the Gallagher brothers, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker and assorted music journalists and scenesters of the time. And what's going through my mind the whole time? Ooh, Jarvis is from Sheffield, that's where Sean Bean's from. Ahh, he's still got a trace of the accent; isn't that cute. Then I spend the whole doc way too fascinated by the sporadic interviews with the members of Wonderwall, an Oasis cover band also from Sheffield, with accents even thicker than Bean's.
Seriously, though, if you love the music of Oasis, Blur, Pulp and the lot, definitely keep an eye out for this doc. Noel's interviews alone are with the price of admission.

But wow, missed the 90s Britpop scene? Missed Blur and Pulp and Oasis and Elastica? This cannot be! Of course, I watch the Oasis Behind the Music every time it's on and the S.O. and I actually went to the '98 Glastonbury Music Fest to see Blur and Pulp, so you know where my tastes are.
The movie is okay--not brilliant--but the music is great and the interviews are a hoot. Plus, you know, Sheffield accents. So, yeah, I'd see it again. We saw it at the Hot Docs fest, but if it gets a general release I'm game. Otherwise we should plan an outing for next week.

Gee, fandom really is the root of, well, everything.) But I doubt I'll ever care where these interchangeable young boys are from. Although I do like that Chad fellow who so resembles your SO. Ask me about Bob Dylan now, that's a different story, eh? ;-)

I'm kinda planning on the clothing show on Sunday. (Vintage and local designers) Any interest?
