How obsessed am I? Lots.
May. 1st, 2003 10:16 amSo, last night I'm sitting in a screening of Live Forever, a pretty good Beeb documentary about the Britpop phenomenon of the mid-90s. There's absolutely fascinating interviews with the Gallagher brothers, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker and assorted music journalists and scenesters of the time. And what's going through my mind the whole time? Ooh, Jarvis is from Sheffield, that's where Sean Bean's from. Ahh, he's still got a trace of the accent; isn't that cute. Then I spend the whole doc way too fascinated by the sporadic interviews with the members of Wonderwall, an Oasis cover band also from Sheffield, with accents even thicker than Bean's.
Seriously, though, if you love the music of Oasis, Blur, Pulp and the lot, definitely keep an eye out for this doc. Noel's interviews alone are with the price of admission.

Pity.
Date: 2003-05-01 11:24 am (UTC)So I was there for the first British Invasion (that didn't involve actual battles) which was like the Beatles and Herman's Hermits, etc. Then I was there for the attempted new "British Invasion" in the 80s which involved Duran Duran and other techno bands, but I pretty much missed the most recent one in the 90s. Didn't know there'd been one until I heard the ad for this movie yesterday. Like, dude, I knew who Oasis was, just not where they were from. (Didn't much care.) Kinda had vague notions they were all from Seattle, really.
Oh well. Now I know. Should I bother to see the movie? Wanna see it again? What is our next outing anyway? My backyard's officially open for business this weekend.
