Just got back from a visit to the emergency room in Sault Ste. Marie. We're here visiting Don's family mostly but stopped in tonight to see a cousin of mine and his family. He has two girls, 3 and 6, and they all seemed to be getting along well. We thought nothing of it when the girls took off to their bedroom with Ros,not realizing there was a bunkbed. The next thing we know there's a thud, and Ros is hysterical and we're on our way to hospital.

The doctor was very nice, and couldn't see a break in the x-rays, but put a cast on Ros' foot anyway because there might be a break in a bone plate(one of the still forming sections of bone in a little kid's body which unfortunately doesn't show up in x-rays.)

It's going to be an interesting 5 days keeping Ros from walking on the cast until we can see her doctor. Tomorrow ww're going to try and track down a set of mini crutches so she can be a little mobile.

Aw poor kid :( and boo hiss to dumb accidents. By tomorrow it probably won't even hurt and the worst will be the itching. When I broke my leg on the ski tow rope (yes I said ski tow rope!) in 2nd grade it took 2 weeks before kid size crutches were available. I also once broke a bone on the side of my foot getting out of bed and promised to stay off it and use crutches to avoid having a cast put on. Also broke my arm and my wrist so I hate casts!

Hey to Soo, Ontario *waves*. I was born and raised in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan and back in high school use to go with me best mate on the bus over the International Bridge (no passports needed back then in the 70's) to go shopping in an indoor mall and to McDonalds because we didn't have those things in our much smaller Soo. My dad was also a customs inspector so we tried to go when he was working both so he knew we were back safe and maybe to avoid the duty *g* (not that we ever bought much, just the shopping was fun and the exchange rate was in our favor *hee*)

We tried all over the Soo and Parry Sound for kids' crutches, with no luck. We're now holding off in the hopes that her doctor will tell us she doesn't need a cast tomorrow.

The Sweetie is from the Soo, hence the visit. Lots of his family to see, along with my cousin. (I'm from Parry Sound, which isn't nearly so far north, but is much much smaller.)
