Well that didn't go as well as expected

Just got back from a visit to the emergency room in Sault Ste. Marie. We're here visiting Don's family mostly but stopped in tonight to see a cousin of mine and his family. He has two girls, 3 and 6, and they all seemed to be getting along well. We thought nothing of it when the girls took off to their bedroom with Ros,not realizing there was a bunkbed. The next thing we know there's a thud, and Ros is hysterical and we're on our way to hospital.

The doctor was very nice,and couldn't see a break in the x-rays, but put a cast on Ros' foot anyway because there might be a break in a bone plate(one of the still forming sections of bone in a little kid's body which unfortunately doesn't show up in x-rays.)

It's going to be an interesting 5 days keeping Ros from walking on the cast until we can see her doctor. Tomorrow ww're going to try and track down a set of mini crutches so she can be a little mobile.

The mini crutches were nowhere to be found. Now we're just hoping her doctor tells us there are no broken bones and no cast needed when we see her tomorrow.

Don't let the Earthling near bunk beds! They are evil!

One of the earthling's cousins has bunk beds. And the earthling loves to climb. I have a bad feeling about this.

How did the doctor visit go? And, wow, how have you kept Ros OFF her feet for five days?

Watch him like a hawk around the bunk beds. And if you can get the cousin's parents to remove the ladder while you're visiting, I'd strongly advise it. (Apparently my cousin always takes the ladder down while there are little visitors but he forgot when we were there.)

The doctor's visit did not go as well as expected. She can't refer us to the ortho clinic until she gets the report from the hospital up north, and they didn't give us the report when we asked. So now the doctor's receptionist has to chase them down.

The going off the feet thing is going okay, though the first two days she'd break into tears when we reminded her she couldn't walk on the cast. All in all, I'm going to be very glad when this is all over.
